Cardiff Northern received an invite today for a Pace Bowling Worksop.  The invite states

You will learn the unique ABSAT (Advanced Biomechanics Speed & Accuracy Training) methods founded by Ian Pont. On the workshop you will discover how to:

• Bowl faster & straighter
• Access power in the body
• Break down and understand the bowling action
• Learn what works for you and what doesn’t
• Find the elusive ‘timing’ of the bowling action

……plus how to bowl yorkers, bouncers, swing, seam, and variations including the world’s best slower ball – The SLOB

You will also get the chance to bowl against the MCI Speed Gun so you can find out for yourself just how fast you really bowl!

Cardiff Northern held their Annual end of season awards last night which had a record attendance.

Steve Hood walked off with the Player of the Year award, Russell Palmer was Bowler of the Year, Ben Horlock was Batsman of the Year and Dave Manley picked up Clubman of the Year.

Duck cup was won for the second time by Barrie Willacott and Champagne Moment went to Ashley Chedzoy for his diving catch with injured hand effort in our penultimate game.

After the awards the team attended the Glee Club where Ashley played a starring role, congrats to Baz for coming up with the suggestion and Dan Jones for organising it.

Finally it was announced that Charles Brain will be standing down as captain and Jimmy Vaile will be stepping up to the plate for the 2010 season.

The votes are all in, the counting has been done and Dan J has arranged the plan.

The date in question is Thursday 1st October and the plan is to meet in Terra Nova at 6:30 for the awards and entry into the Glee comedy club at 7:30-8:00.

The final League table is up and we came a credible 7th out of 11.  Should note that we no longer had the win against Cavaliers in the last but one game because the rain that called off our friendly also wiped out all other games leaving them down as cancelled due to rain.

As the season is over it’s time to vote for the end of season awards. As usual it’s Player of the Year, Batsman of the Year, Bowler of the Year and Clubman of the Year.

Usual rules, players who’ve played in 5 or more games get to vote and these are the following:-
Brain, Britton, Chedzoy, Clarke, Hood, Jones (Dan), Manley, Palmer, Perkins, Willacott.  That list have all been texted as a prompt – please vote ASAP.

And don’t try voting twice!

As I type the sun is shining and the sky blue. But nevertheless the game this evening is already off.  This apparently has been the worst summer in the history of the league for games cancelled.

To summarize we should have played 23 matches this season (plus the friendly at St Fagans).  We actually played 10 games, won 2 by forfeit and had 11 off.  We played on friendly on a rained off day and we played one on a forfeit day (which was rained off before the end).  Pretty pathetic all told.

Final league table will be up soon but I’m guessing at about 6th or 7th of 10.  Plus we had the only draw in the entire league season.

Last night’s game resulted in a forfeit by 25th Scimitar Cavaliers so Northern pick up maximum points.

EDIT: In all the drama of the weather we didn’t twig that no-one finished that night hence the games all go down as not played and we don’t get the forfeit victory.

The prospect of the end of the season looms near and Dan Jones has volunteered to organise but we want to come up with something before the end of the season so it doesn’t disappear into the ether.

Swindon dogs has been suggested and shouted down, Dan Perkins has suggested paint ball followed by food which might make for a good weekend activity.
