Last night saw Northern play a friendly in the picturesque surroundings of St Fagans. It was a good game and both sides enjoyed it.
Official winners were Peterston by one run but this was after Northern let their last man bat out the remaining over and he scored 24 from it! Also in totting up the card later I’m sure Peterston actually had 2 less than they wrote down so we did get a moral victory.

Cardiff Northern will face Grangetown All Stars in the Crown Challenge Cup tonight. The Semi-final draw will take place at Blackweir at the end of today’s matches.

Northern ensured that their mid season break would be one week less by progressing to the next round of the cup. Some might say the fact that Top Cats didn’t actually turn up to play was the key factor but either way Northern go on to the Quarter Finals to play the winner of Grangetown All Star and The 404s. Both play in Division 3 where Grangetown currently lie 3rd (4 wins, 1 defeat) and The 404s are 9th (1 win, 4 defeats).
Having been forecast all day with barely a cloud in the sky the rain came down across Cardiff just before we were about to start last night resulting in the game being called off. This takes Northern into the Cup game against Top Cats on the wrong end of a losing streak. Can we turn it around?

Another lovely sunny day and Northern were at Llandaff to take on CCCC who got promoted with them last season. It was a high scoring game for both sides. Read more…
As has become customary with me updating the site Northern lost heavily immediately afterwards.
Tomorrow we start our Stuart Jones Memorial Challenge cup campaign against league newcomers Star CC. We’ve never been what you call a cup team but it’s be nice to get through a round or two or we’ll have a month off end June/start July.
