Unsurprisingly tonight’s game against Top Cats has been called off due to adverse weather conditions.
Averages and fantasy scores have been updated. This includes the playing points for those attending the rained off game and possibly got flu for the privilege.
Northern took on similarly placed Scimitar Cavaliers. Read more…
A strangely flat Northern fielding performance and a dropped catch by Barrie set Northern on the way to defeat as they conceded 135 runs against the Scimitar Cavaliers. A positive approach from the batsmen almost redeemed the situation with Snowy, Charles and a rapid fire Ashish almost salvaging the game but in the end maximum batting points became the target. It was left to Martin to get two runs from his only ball and he and Baz took advantage of an overthrow to scamper through for the required second. Report and scores will go up tomorrow – the book was left in my car today.
On a day where it was doubtful any cricket would be played Northern chose to bat and openers Jarryd and Charles started like men possessed. When the rain brought a premature end at 3.4 overs Northern had just reached 35, well on course for a great score. Indeed if the run rate had continued at that rate a score of 171 was on the cards.
As it was the opposition wanted off and quickly left which left us wondering on the outcome as the other game carried on playing. Further rain ended any arguments though but not before the other game had got in another 6 overs.
Our game on Thursday 1st July has been moved to Pontcanna.
Hard to believe but the forecast for our game this Thursday is for rain. Yes, the wet stuff that stops us playing more often than not most summers.
Typically this apparent change in the weather has come at a time when we have a run of games against teams at the same end of the table as us. No doubt we’ll miss a few weeks and then it’ll be glorious when we have the next game against Grange All Stars.
Fingers crossed I’m just being negative and all will be well.
Did you know the midweek cricket league is actually made up of robot teams controlled remotely by kids in Germany?
Seeing as how we have had unprecedented weather it’s worth looking at the club records and you’ll see just how many are possible targets. Read on. Read more…
Looking at the stats you’ll see that we currently have 4 bowlers on 10 wickets each and all 4 have bowled a similar amount of overs and Ben only slightly more economical than the other 3.
It’s going to be a closely fought contest for bowler of the year this year and Snowy will be looking at making a charge through for the batting award but also Jimmy is starting to play himself in and Dan Jones scored a career best innings last night too.
