Cardiff Northern faced a tough cup match against top division side Trotters
Electing to bat due to a few latecomers Northern struggled against the Trotters attack and when Gareth Jones fell cheaply for 3 Barrie Willacott (4) and Ashish Chatap (1) soon followed. New boy Nick WIndley found himself in the firing line at 5 and although he got a firm bat on ball he picked out point who took an excellent catch leaving Windley to comprehend a debut duck.
Late comer Jimmy got into his stride quickly but opener Palmer fell for 7 and Ashley Chedzoy came in. Vaile was out for 12 just as he was looking set and Perkins had a duck leaving number 9 David Manley to try to salvage something. Chedzoy was bowled for 9 trying to slog and Clarke fell to a duck having been unable to get near the bowling of Saltmarsh. A last wicket show of defiance saw Britton make 2 and Manley get to 8 before the former was run out off the last ball. Final score a tricky to defend 66.
Poor bowling and lacklustre fielding was Northerns response to the challenge with no bowlers picking up any fantasy points at all as the Trotters openers eased their way to scores of 39 and 23 as they reached the total in the 9th over for the loss of no wickets.
